Business Background
Conventional vs. unconventional. Unconventional wins every time. "Corporate America" was just not my thing.
PROFESSIONAL STORY
After college, I had some great jobs along the way including working at Sony Music Studios and working as a Model Agent; but I ended up working in the New York Real Estate industry for over 10 years. Never really feeling fulfilled I found myself always searching for a creative outlet in my job. During this time, I was dealt with 3 personal tragedies.
At that moment I realized how short and precious life was and I decided to say F-U to my cushy day job. I took a leap of faith to start my own Home Staging and Design Business in Brooklyn. After a successful 10-year run, I hung up my Home Staging shoes to focus solely on Interior Design & Virtual Design Services.
Having always been drawn to the HGTV makeover concept, I knew that becoming a designer was the right path for me. Whether your budget is large or small, there are countless creative ways to provide great design without having to spend thousands of dollars for each item. Using my ‘super power’ sleuthing skills, I love to show clients all that IS possible!
Whether in person, virtual, home renovation or short-term rental / Airbnb, I offer my clients the opportunity to work according to their needs.
My Mission
dbl oath
Working with sometimes awkward or challenging layouts + smaller rooms leaves a lot of people just giving up. Together we will hone in on your favorite design styles and create a space that feels authentically 'you'. Whether your budget is large or small, great design doesn't have to cost a million bucks, it just has to look like it does.
Getting Personal
For as long as I can remember creativity has been at my core;
I can even remember winning an art contest back in 1st grade.
I spent over 20 years working in jobs that left me feeling unfulfilled. I reached a point where I could literally do my job in my sleep and I was miserable. During this time 3 major life events were also happening; my mentor was dying of lung cancer, my cat who was the love of my life was losing his battle against kidney failure and one of my best friends was struggling with taking his life. Fast forward to today, my mentor passed away, my cat passed away, but thankfully my friend is still with me today!
I realized life is too short, and I would rather take a chance at something and fail then play it safe my whole life. I resigned from my job and started my Home Staging and Design Business, Dunefsky Design Inc. I became a Certified Home Stager during this time and ran a successful business for 10 years primarily focusing on Home Staging and home renovation projects in New York. I closed my Home Staging business in 2021 and opened DBL Take Design so I could focus primarily on Interior Design.
PERSONAL BACKSTORY
Like I said, life is short so take that leap in life. Whatever it is just do it.

Lisa
I am an 80's loving, Billy Idol obsessed rocker, sugar addict who prefers eating candy to food any day of the week. I love, love, LOVE animals and I am at my happiest when I have my dog by my side. I have lived in the city for 35 + years and understand the challenges of small and quirky spaces being the norm. I want to help others overcome those challenges. So, if you’re ready to level up your homes design, I would love to work together.
